Annie Nunn and Fred Deakin
Annie Nunn (1898-1983) married Fred Deakin and had four children; Les, Nev, Bernice and John.
Fred died in 1938 and Annie remarried to a widower named Robert Reaney in 1942.
This is a transcript of the marriage notice from The Morning Bulletin newspaper on 10 March 1923:
DEAKIN-NUNN. - At the Baptist Tabernacle, on February 20th, by the Rev Griffiths, Frederick Arthur, only son of Mr. and Mrs. A Deakin, William-street, to Annie, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.Nunn, Kent-street, Rockhampton.
Family members who remember Fred, speak of what a wonderful man he was and the fact he had a great singing voice. He was a member of the Rockhampton Baptist Tabernacle, where he conducted the choir for a time. Fred's son, Neville, was also associated with this fellowship as well, along with other family members.
Fred sang regularly at weddings as well as in other public performances.
When Annie's sister, Jessie, married in 1928, Fred sang at the ceremony.
The Deakins lived in Albert Street, Rockhampton, near the city's main rugby league ground, Browne Park.
