Notes |
- Information on his army record has him dying in Adelaide 29 Oct 1955 as Robert Alexander Kennedy (Kennedy being his mother's third husband). Research by Donna Baldey published at http://tinyurl.com/6qdhlya gives details of him as a member of 2nd Tunnelling Company during WWI. It appears to be the same person as the researcher also details the service records of his half-brothers James Adolphus Kennedy and Martin George Kennedy. Alex (as he Robert Alexander was known) used the Kennedy surname. According to family information he did not marry and ended up moving to South Australia with the family who ran the boarding house in which he lived in Sydney.
So, Robert Alexander Geddes or Kennedy is also found on the electoral roll in New South Wales as a labourer in 1930 at the Nepean Dam, Werriwa. In 1937, he is found at the Woronora Dam, Werriwa. His connection with dam work fits with his war experiences as a tunneller and is confirmed by family members who knew of him. In 1943 and 1949, he is living at Albion St, East Sydney. Not found on electoral roll thereafter.
