    FREEMAN.-At the residence of her son-in-law, Alexander Scott, 9 Seaton Place, Aberdeen, on the 30th September, Catherine Thomson, widow of George Freeman, gardener, in ther 96th year. Funeral on Saturday, 3rd October, at two o'clock, to Banchory-Devenick Churchyard.

    Notes from John Stanhope: James Thomson was born 30 April 1780 and baptized the same day at Stracathro, Forfarshire, the son of William Thomson and Kathrine (Catharine, Katharine) Laurence (Lawrence), who were married at Fordoun on 31 July 1779. In 1841-3 he and his wife were residing at Montquick (Mill of Monquich, in Maryculter, and near Balnagubs), where he was a miller, paying rent of ?10 yearly to George Silver (Inventory of the personal estate of George Silver esquire 13 November 1845.). They were witnesses to the baptisms of James Thomson's grandsons James and Alexander Silver. James Thomson was witness to baptism of grandson David Silver.
