    Notes:

From David's obituary, we know that he and Georgina were missionaries in the West Indies for six years until about 1904. Their son George (born about 1897 in Grenada) was the only one of four children to survive to adulthood. The 1911 census for David and Georgina reveals that George's three siblings had passed before that year. There is only a record for his sister Loveday, who was born and died within hours in Scotland. Presumably the two others passed away in Grenada.

  6. 17.  George James SILVER Descendancy chart to this point (4.David2, 1.Margaret1) was born about 1897 in Grenada, West Indies; died on 23 May 1937 in Melton, Suffolk, England, UK; was buried in 1937 in St Andrews Church, Bredfield, Suffolk, England, UK.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • _MILT: Captain, 2nd Bengal Lancers, Indian Army
    • _MILT: 1915-16; 28th Battalion, The London Regiment, Territorial Forces, British Army
    • Census: 1911, Dasherhead, Gargunnock, Stirling, Scotland, UK
    • _MILT: 8 May 1916; Entered Quetta Cadet College
    • Probate: 19 Aug 1937, Ipswich, Suffolk, England, UK

    Notes:

Some ancestry trees have him born in Suffolk 14 Nov 1897 but on 1911 Scotland census he is staying with his grandmother and his birthplace is given as Grenada, West Indies which fits with the fact that his parents were missionaries there. The 1911 census for his parents reveals that George's three siblings were dead. There is only a record for his sister Loveday born and died within hours in Scotland. Presumably the two others passed away in Grenada.

In October 1928, his wife Nora and their nine-month old son Ian were on board the ship Ranchi that sailed from London to Bombay. Presumably this was to join George who was stationed in India with the 2nd Lancers.

There is a stone in the Westruther Churchyard which reads: "In loving memory of the Rev David SILVER MA for 18 years Parish Minister of Westruther died 30 Nov 1921 and of his wife Georgina died 1941 buried in Edinburgh And their son George James 2nd Lancers Indian Army died 1937 buried in Melton, Suffolk"
