Deadly reflection - Bury and Norwich Post, 10 March 1847:
DIED. On the 14th ult., at St. Christopher's, aged 36, Charles Thornton Cunningham, Esq., Lieutenant-Governor of the Leeward Islands, eldest son of the Rev. J.W.Cunningham, Vicar of Harrow. The occasion of his death was very remarkable. He had been for some time anxiously expecting the arrival of the picture of his sister, who died last summer. He went to meet the box, and when it came to his house he almost feared to open it, saying that he knew it would give him an illness. When it was opened, he looked at the portrait for some time, and exclaimed, "What a sweet likeness!" He then rushed to his own room, fell at the side of his bed, and died instantly!
